Lyrical/Contemporary & Improvisation
A pivotal and essential piece of a successful Lyrical and Contemporary performance is the breath behind the movement, the fullest reach from fingertip to toes and the ability to sell a story onstage with body language and facial expressions. This Tuesday afternoon Dance Intensive is focused on educating dancers training in Lyrical and Contemporary how to access their breath during exercise, flexibility training and practice different story telling methods through creative improvisation exercises.

Tuesdays, July 11th-August 15th (6 Weeks)
Ages 6-11, 3:00-4:00pm
Ages 12-19, 4:00-5:00pm

Hip Hop & Groove
Finding the heartbeat of the song and learning how to stay on the beat not only makes a hip hop dance look well put together, but also helps teach a dancer how to perform with their music instead of “on top of it.” This Intensive will focus on integral Hip Hop skills such as footwork, intricate muscle control, isolations, iconic/social dance moves and pair them with finding the groove behind the music to create the soul connection between movement and rhythm. Dancers will be equipped with more knowledge about the culture of Hip Hop as well as feel more confident in freestyle and cyphers!

Musical Theater & Characterization
Curious as to how we get our students to connect with their characters to sell their story on stage? Take this Intensive and learn our trade secrets! Students will learn how to set character goals, create unique personality traits & quirks for their characters and practice how to use this character during tricky choreography and exercise. This class will leave dancers ready to execute the three most important things for a Musical Theater performance: Body Language, Over-exaggeration and Facial Expressions!
